Learning the "ten friends"..

Ten friends, ten facts, ways to make ten.  These can be difficult for kids to commit to memory unless they have multiple opportunities to visualize and create groups of ten.  Here are some activities I have recently found ..

Go Fish For Tens!  This is a variation of Go Fish.  Remove the face cards from a regular deck of cards. Deal 7 cards to each player and place the rest in the middle.  First, players should remove any "ten friends" from their hand and place them face up on the table.  Tens can be removed and placed by themselves.  On a turn, a player says..."I have a 2, do you have an 8?".  If the match is not made, player must pick a new card from the pile in the middle.
